Nancy O'Dell started her career in broadcasting as an anchor at WPDE-TV, Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Later, she was a morning news anchor at WCBD TV and also as an investigative reporter. O'Dell's reports in Charleston about the police's leniency regarding DUI cases led to a State Law Enforcement Division to look into the matter. The result was the state government imposing more stringent rules in these instances. Ms. O'Dell was honored by her colleagues at the Associated Press with the Best Report of the Year Awards to all media South Carolina. O'Dell, after her stint working in Charleston reporting, was a anchor at NBC's Miami WTVJ-TV station prior to moving to Access Hollywood where she is currently a co-anchor and correspondent on weekends. She also works as an anchor on Dateline NBC and NBC News Today. She was a reporter for events like The Oscars, The Emmys, The Grammys, and The Golden Globe Awards.
